Becoming a Sommelier
European School for Sommelier organizes courses for modern Sommeliers training, using a teaching method very sensitive to the continuous changes in the international world of wine.
The course for Sommelier is organized in a basic path divided into three levels. At the end of each level, you must pass the final exam in order to access to the next level. At the third level, you must pass the final test in order to get the certificate of Sommeliers.
- The first level is made up of seven lessons dealing with different topics including wine tasting techniques, service, viticulture, different winemaking practicies, spirits, the fascinating world of sparkling wines and special wines, legislation related to the wine world and wine faults. At the end of the course, the participant has to pass a written final test to obtain the first level certificate.
- The second level, is mainly focused on Italian and European enography, particulary on France region, and international wines. The course is divided into ten lessons with a written final test and the second level certificate.
- The third level deals with food and food and wine features and matching methods. After ten lessons, the participant has to face a final written and oral examination to become a certified sommelier.
For each level, the lesson is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part including the sensory analysis of proposed wines, the uncorking and the practice of service.
During each lesson of the Sommelier courses, three wines (with covered label) will be tasted, in order to stimulate and refine more and more the sight, the smell and the taste.
At the end of each course, a final exam is foreseen, including a theoretical and practical test. Once passed the test, you will have access to the course of the next level.
